Grace and Growth: Archbishop Kaigama Blesses New Landmarks at St. Benedict’s

LOKOGOMA, ABUJA — June 18, 2026, will be etched in gold within the annals of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Lokogoma. It was a day when the sacred and the communal merged in a grand symphony of faith, liturgy, and collective joy, marked by the historic pastoral visit of the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama.
From the early afternoon, an electric anticipation swept through the parish grounds. Under the dynamic and visionary stewardship of the Parish Priest, Fr. Victor Adegoke, parishioners turned out in their thousands, clad in vibrant liturgical vestments and traditional attire. The air resonated with melodious songs of welcome, cultural dances, and enthusiastic children strewing flower petals along the processional path, creating a majestic atmosphere fit for a shepherd visiting his flock.
To appreciate the magnitude of this visit, one must look back at the remarkable trajectory of St. Benedict’s. What began years ago as a modest outstation, gathering a handful of zealous believers in temporary structures within the rapidly growing Lokogoma district, has blossomed into a thriving center of spiritual and pastoral excellence. Through the foundational sacrifices of its pioneer members and the relentless, transformative leadership of Fr. Adegoke, the community has evolved from a nascent worship group into a sprawling parish. This historic visit by the Archbishop serves not only as a liturgical celebration but as a canonical validation of the community’s maturity, resilience, and profound growth within the Archdiocese of Abuja.
The spiritual high point of the visit commenced with the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Archbishop Kaigama, with Fr. Victor Adegoke, the Dean of Garki Deanery, Fr. Christopher Nnubia, and several visiting clergy concelebrating.
